On June 1775, the British defeated the Americans at Battle of Bunker Hill in Massachusetts, because the colonist was so inexperienced and their lack of knowledge of war led them to lose. But they did significant damage to the British which gave them a huge confidence boost.
This was the first battle of the American Revolution, and tensions sure were high. The fight happened on April 19,1775. It was the first war, and it sure kicked off the American Revolution. It started with Paul Revere and the other riders sounding the alarm. And the Minutemen got ready for a battle.
By the winter of 1776, things were looking bad for George Washington and his army. So George got a plan. His plan was to attack the Hessian forces. So on Christmas Eve George and his army crossed the Delaware River--at night--and attacked the Hessian forces. Since the Hessian forces did not see this coming, George and his army easily surrounded the resting army. His plan worked perfectly. They captured 1000 Hessians and only lost 7 soldiers. After capturing the Hessian forces George and his army retreated, knowing they did not have the power to hold them till Princeton. One week later, they came again. This time the British forces attacked the army at Princeton. But, fortunately, the British army failed to defeat the American forces. That means the American Army won both the Battle of Trenton and the Battle of Princeton. |
